P.A.C.T.
A public meeting designed to meet the demand of the public swiftly in relation to Quality of life issues.
First meeting is at
CLAVERLEY SCHOOL. At 7:30PM On THURSDAY 2ND NOVEMBER 2006.
P.A.C.T stands for Partners And Communities Together. The P.A.C.T panel will sit once per month or once every three months. It is an opportunity for anyone to attend and voice their concerns or issues that effect their quality of life in Claverley. The objective is to deal with these issues swiftly.
P.A.C.T is not Police run. The Partners involved are multi agency and are typically made up of certain representatives for example, the district council, county council, the local Police officer and community support officer and other Local people who have a role in the community for that area.
A 'P.A.C.T ' meeting takes the form of a local meeting, held on a regular basis. The panel sits and members of the public for the area are invited to attend and give any specific concerns that they may have within the local area. The concerns that they have can be about absolutely anything. Usually the types of issues that are raised are Anti social behaviour, damage, poor lighting on certain paths or areas, dog fouling, discarded items used for taking drugs, bad and obstructive parking, noise late at night causing people lack of sleep and many other general problems that often exist in the community. Please note that these issues are not all Policing issues and some are not solely Council issues, some are both and others may be dealt with by other agencies. This is the reason for P.A.C.T. The issues must be 'SPECFIC'.
A member of the panel will note all of the specfic issues and concerns raised by the persons attending the meeting. These are written onto large flip chart pages and stuck onto the wall. Then each member of the public attending is given one sticket note with which to place a vote on which issue they feel is the most important to them. They are asked to place the sticket note onto the relavant flip chart page. The panel then count up the votes and will then be tasked with addressing the top three issues. The other issues are not discarded but roll onto the next meeting.
The panel adjourns to formulate a plan amongst themselves on how to resolve the issues raised. Over the next month the panel employs the plans made and at the next meeting gives their results. Then the process of raising issues begins all over again. If the previous issues were not resolved then they are also raised again and voted upon again until they are resolved.
Phil Neale. PC 134.
