Parish Plan Implementation Group
Update
November 2006
This month the Parish Plan group has been concentrating on environmental issues, progressing a number of initiatives. Particular emphasis is being given to energy conservation, energy efficiency and recycling.
RIGHTS OF WAY MAINTENANCE
A group of volunteers is being brought together to supplement the council in maintaining the extensive rights of way network in the parish. The first few volunteers are now on board, and the first footpath to be tackled will be the path running down the side of the football pitch in the village, which is overgrown with nettles and at times is impassable. Work should be carried out here around the end of November.
The Parish is fortunate in having a large network of footpaths and bridleways, but it is a major task to keep them clear and the local council have neither the funds nor the resources to cover the full network. More volunteers are urgently needed. Please contact Richard Cotham on 01746 710334 if you can help in any way.
ENERGY CONSERVATION AND RECYCLING PACK
Work is in hand to produce a comprehensive reference pack for parishioners, offering advice in all aspects of domestic energy saving including tips for improving household energy efficiency, recycling and composting. The pack is currently being researched and written and, although funds are unlikely to stretch to a copy per household, it will be made available for all parishioners to consult. ENERGY CROPS
Did you know that the Parish now has its first energy crop plantation? Indeed, there are 10 acres of elephant grass growing within the Parish boundaries. This should be ready for cropping next year and will be processed at a special energy plant in Eccleshall, Staffordshire. If this is successful, more may follow….
